Bread for the World

In 2023, I finally decided that I wanted to help people in need, especially children.

Since I feel connected to the Protestant Church in Germany, even though I do not consider myself religious, I decided after some research to make a monthly recurring donation to Bread for the World.

Bread for the World is the international relief organization of the Protestant churches in Germany. It is committed to promoting justice, peace, and overcoming poverty and hunger around the world.
The organization supports projects in countries of the Global South by helping people build sustainable livelihoods through education, agricultural development, and access to clean drinking water.
It also promotes the protection of human rights and strengthens civil society. In addition, Bread for the World actively advocates for reducing global inequality and promoting fairer conditions in international trade.

Bread for the World was founded in 1959 and is now one of Germany's largest humanitarian aid organizations.
Every year, it supports more than 1,500 projects in around 90 countries across the Global South. In 2022, the organization received approximately €76 million in donations and church collections, resulting in a total budget of around €300 million, including government funding.
With around 600 employees worldwide, Bread for the World works in areas such as food security, education, healthcare, and climate protection. The organization places great importance on transparency and regularly publishes annual reports that provide detailed insights into its work.
